There is no forward-thinking leadership or workplace unless we truly and authentically engage — together.
Recently I shared a post on LinkedIn and in our community about a Forward-Thinking Leadership event.
What really caught my attention above beyond that President Barack Obama would be speaking at the event was their definition of Forward-Thinking:
Forward-Thinking: the ability to engage your people in a journey towards a better future.
It was remarkable how their definition is so similar to what we do here at Forward-Thinking Workplaces.
Which brings me to a word in their definition I’d like to focus on:
ENGAGE
There is no forward-thinking leadership or workplace unless we truly and authentically engage — with each other.
At the heart of the forward-thinking workplace is the idea that we all have something to bring to the table. And, we need each other to help see it in ourselves and to uncover it in each other.
Helping people to ENGAGE is why I’m now focusing more and more of my attention on working to build a community of forward-thinking leaders who ENGAGE with each other.
Blog posts, mailing lists, and social media have largely become a vast wasteland where fewer and fewer are paying attention and even fewer are motivated to ENGAGE.
Creating a better future requires you to ENGAGE. Every voice is needed, and everyone is part of the team.
An Invitation to ENGAGE
